This 5-piece felt coaster set tells the story of a crooked tree that once stood by a river in my hometown—not as a memory, but as a landscape you can hold in your hands.
I watched it change through four seasons, and then I watched it disappear. The stump that remains is not an ending, but a reminder of what stood there for years. This set is how I keep it.
The Landscape, Accurately Told
Each coaster is a mini diorama: a grassy riverbank, two smooth stones resting by the water’s edge, a gentle slope rising to one side, and on that slope—not in the center, but slightly off to the side—stands the tree. The flat meadow in the middle is where your mug goes.
Spring greens. Summer shade. Autumn gold. Winter bare. And finally, the stump—where the tree used to be, but the river and stones and slope remain.

Why I Made This
Because some things don’t disappear just because they’re gone. They live in the shape of a riverbank, the weight of a stone, the bend of a tree that leaned a little too far west. I made these coasters so that every time I set down a cup, I remember—not with sadness, but with gratitude that I got to watch it grow.
Set includes: Spring · Summer · Autumn · Winter · The Stump (5 pieces)
